Horses are prey animals making them highly sensitive beings, they are also herd animals. They feel the slightest change in emotion and energy of every member in their herd and those around them, especially those of predators. Humans, by nature, are a predatory species. Horses feel how we are feeling and when we are not congruent; when our behavior doesn’t match how we are really feeling. They pick up on our incongruence and it can be viewed as a warning for them to stay alert. They need these crucial instincts for survival. It is these skills that have allowed horses to survive as a species all these years. They can sense the energy and intent of a predator on the prowl from miles away, letting them flee the area before they are preyed upon.
The horse naturally mirrors and reacts to our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and intentions. This makes them key to personal development. They can outwardly show us thought and behavioral patterns that may be hindering our lives. Horses live strictly in the moment, and they have to for survival. They aren’t worried about what happened at work earlier or what is in store at school tomorrow. They only live in the now. Because of this, the moment you change something within yourself, the horse will change in response. They are true mirrors. |
